On December 4, the Sentilo project was presented at the periodic BuB Meeting within the Commons 4EU project, which took place at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), Barcelona. The main attendees were teachers, students and other usual participants of this meeting.

Rafa Garcia, from the Department of Innovation, Knowledge Society and ICT Architectures at the Municipal Institute of Informatics (IMI) of Barcelona City Council, opened the session with an introduction to Sentilo. Then, Marc Garriga, from the Department of Smart Cities and Telecommunications at the IMI, explained all the details of the platform. After that, attendees had an opportunity to participate, and were be able to ask questions and the speakers clarified some issues about the project.

As for the ratings, it should be noted that all those who had already reviewed the platform valued it as impeccable from a technological point of view. The FOSS license that has been chosen for releasing the code (EUPL/LGPL) was also source of positive feedback.

Other issues raised revolved around the incipient stage in the development of modules, end-user apps and the number of sensors that are “online”. Currently the platform is at an early stage of development, and has a low number of sensors and apps. However, the community has been launched at this early stage for the precise purpose to involve all interested parties in its development and governance.

To wind up the meeting, some students were invited to visit the lab to check out the server where the platform will be soon installed and were encouraged to use it.
